How to Become a CHDO
-
 -   Characteristics
 -   Roles and funding
 -   Special assistance
 -   Use of funds

To be certified as a CHDO, an organization must meet certain legal and organizational characteristics described in the HOME regulations at 24 CFR Part 92.2.

This module divides these characteristics into three categories to provide an overview. The following links offer detailed descriptions of these categories.

 -   Legal Status
 -   Organizational Structure
 -   Experience, Capacity, & Financial Accountability

NOTE: HOME requirements in each category must be satisfied for an organization to become a certified CHDO. Therefore, we suggest you return to this screen after reading each category to be sure that you cover all categories.

After reading and understanding the information in these categories, you may wish to visit the CHDO Checklist for a summary of the documentation required during the CHDO certification process. This checklist is provided by the HOME Front as a tool to assist PJs and nonprofit organizations in the certification process.
