May 3, 2002, Secretary Mel Martinez announced that William Wade
Matchneer III would become the agency's first Administrator of the
Manufactured Housing Program, a position established by the Manufactured
Housing Improvement Act of 2000. As Administrator, Matchneer will

housing policy, as well as program administration.
In 1976, HUD began inspecting mobile home units at the factories
and putting red HUD approved stickers on each part of the unit that
indicated the unit meets HUD mandated design and construction standards.
Michigan is one of 36 states designated as a HUD approved inspection
agency that completes these inspections for HUD. Find

Handbook."
